Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN ARE THE SPRING AND FALL SEASONS?

Spring registration opens in January and closes the end of February.  Evaluations will take place in February during clinics and the drafts take place in March after clinics have finished.  Players will be assigned to teams based on the draft rules by March. Coaches will contact players shortly after the draft  with practice times and locations.  Regular season games are held weekdays beginning in April.  The regular season ends mid-June with playoffs near the end of June. Rain or other factors may force the extension of the season.

Fall registration opens the beginning of August and closes the end of August. There will be no clinics or evaluations in the fall, but a draft will occur to place players on a team.  All registered players are guaranteed to play.   Coaches will contact players shortly after the draft with practice times and locations.  Regular season games are weekdays and  start in September.  The regular season ends mid-October. Weather, daylight and other factors may alter the season times.

WHERE & WHEN ARE PRACTICES AND GAMES?

Our practices and games are held at the Northmoreland Park Baseball Complex, Zimmerman Fields located next to the Allegheny Township Municipal Building and Kunkle Park. Practice and game time schedules are typically during the week with Saturdays sometimes scheduled for make up games and playoff games.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES MY CHILD NEED?

Players will receive a hat and jersey through the league. Players will be responsible for pants, socks, a glove, bat, batting helmet and a cleats. The manager of the team will receive baseballs, catching gear and a first aid kit.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED WITH KVBSA?

KVBSA is ran entirely by volunteers, and we are always in need of volunteers to assist with the many aspects of league administration. Various events such as our annual gun bash fundraiser, field clean up days, opening day, and championship weekends are just a few of the many opportunities available.  We can also use help behind the scenes through various committees. Please check out our volunteer page for more information.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT DIVISION MY CHILD IS IN?

Once you register your player, our system will determine their division according to the birthday.  You can also check out our age verification chart.

HOW DO IN-HOUSE EVALUATIONS WORK?

Evaluations will take place prior to the season to help managers determine the skill set of the players. Every child will be placed on a team; which is why we call them "evaluations" and not tryouts.

Every spring we hold clinics.  Dates, times and locations will be posted and they are typically held in February and March.  At these clinics, players will be evaluated on basic baseball and softball skills such as throwing, catching, batting and such.  Players should bring a glove, a bat, and a batting helmet.

If your player cannot attend the evaluation day they will still be drafted onto a team.
